Karen is originally from Corpus Christi, TX but has lived in the Houston area for 17 years. She was a junior high and high school English teacher after graduating from Sam Houston State University. Karen earned her M.Ed. in counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and worked in the mental health field for about 15 years (including positions in St. Louis, MO; Kerrville, TX; and Houston, TX).
From 2005 – 2013 Karen was on staff at Mental Health America of Greater Houston (MHAGH), first as Outreach Specialist, then as Program Coordinator. While at MHAGH, she planned many meetings, trainings, seminars and conferences. In 2013 Karen decided to take the leap and started her own meeting and event planning company.
While learning about social media in order to promote her event planning company, Karen discovered a real fondness for the field which unites two of her best skills: research and creativity.
