Have you ever scrolled through a page of a business and all you see is a post about their products? Post after post is nothing but on their timelines but post saying us, us and more it is all about us.  They are not giving any value they are not giving any type of a feeling of their community that says hey we care.

It is so easy to get caught up in the whole idea of posting on social media platforms and let’s just post what we have to sell. It can quick and easy post, right?

So you may be asking why am I pointing this out, Because, I want you to understand that this is not the way to manage your social media pages.  As a person marketing your business, you need to remember you are trying to build a community that wants to know you and your brand. It is called social media and not Sell to me media.

Now you are probably saying “well what the heck do I post?” Well, here three easy tips on what you can post on any of your social media platforms.

  1. When you post don’t just post about you and your business. Post things that will spark engagement, make people smile, something that they would love to share out.

How you ask many ways. You can post inspirational quotes, funny memes, or ask questions.

  1. Post value for your customers. Teach them how to use your product. But, wait you told me not to sell my products. No, I said don’t make all your post about your products. Remember there is an 80/20 rule 80% value and 20% sell. So with that in mind remember how I said give them value? You can give them tips on things that will make their life easier. Kind of like what I am doing right now.  The best way to give value is to know your customers/followers pain points. But hey knowing your audience is a whole nother blog
  2. Finally, the third tip is, do us all one big huge favor, when or if you decide to use social media as a way to grow your customer base and you start to post. BE THERE. Don’t just post a question and then leave it hanging. If your followers answer the question or leave a comment on your post. Respond back to them. Let them know you are there and you are ready to give them the outstanding service you can offer. Again, this could be another whole blog post about how you need to be there!

So there you have it, the biggest takeaway from this post is to remember that social media is not sell to me media. Social media is about getting to know your audience, building a relationship to nurture them into the next step of buying your product or service.  I know that I would personally rather buy a product or use someone’s service that feel and think I can trust and enjoy to be around and someone that I know will be there to help me with my pain points in my journey.

Now that you have this in your hip pocket, go on go out there and start building your social media platforms with true blue customers and followers.
